This quirky comedy drama by Jonathan Guy Lewis takes place during a school exam isolation period and is a rollercoaster exploration of the pressures placed on 6th form students. A cast of twelve delve into the intense pressure of the exam period, and the oppressive confinement of isolation, revealing the turmoil of the students who contend with friendships, bullying, sexual confusions, pressure from social media and a constant battle between A*s and being too cool for school. The students in this play are bright, driven and hungry for success but they are let down by a system that doesn’t value their individuality and curiosity. At the heart of this play is a deeply political exploration of the English schooling system as a factory, and education as nothing more than a commodity.
We are a group of twelve BA Acting graduates from Drama Studio London. In July 2021 we performed A Level Playing Field as our final graduate production and had such passion for it that we have formed a new company to take it further and give the show a wider audience and another lease of life!
