Community Summer Party: Star Chamber Featuring Louella Lucas

Star Chamber is a seven-piece funk and soul band whose members hail from Hammersmith, Holloway and Chingford. The band’s origins go back to the beginning of 2020, when drummer Rich Valencia, bassist Neil Titman and guitarist Anthony Quinn got together to jam some funk and jazz fusion tracks, only to be forced into Covid hibernation almost immediately.

Resurfacing last year, they were joined by Gordon Shepherd on keys, Mark Cannon on guitar, Dave Carmichael on tenor sax and Louella Lucas on vocals, and since then have been bringing a heady mixture of Motown classics, vocal and instrumental funk, and fresh takes on popular tunes to audiences all around London.

We’re delighted to welcome Star Chamber and Louella Lucas back after their session as part of last November’s Black History Month. Expect to hear sounds by artists such as Randy Crawford, Donny Hathaway, The Meters, Diana Ross, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, and many more.
