Jatie Tucker (they/them) welcomes you to join this collective movement practice exploring connection between queer bodies. This is a mixed ability workshop open to all levels. Whether you have never moved in a formal setting, have some dance experience or feel dance as part of your soul, come along to share the space in this mostly free movement workshop. The workshop will will guide you through a series of exercises and tasks with the aim of feeling comfort in your own body, sharing the space with fellow queers, and finding joy in communal movement.

Jatie is a dance maker, educator and performer. Jatie established a successful career as a full timer performer, touring nationally and internationally with companies including Richard Alston Dance Company and in the Original West End cast of INALA: Live. They are a co-founder of Petri Delights, an inter-disciplinary collective which combines design and dance in a waste-free theatre making process. Jatie's teaching perspective stems from their lived experience as a trans* feminine person. They place weight on being actively inclusive to enable equal justice through a body-inclusive practice which nurtures participants as individuals. A student recently said ‘I look forward to your class every week, it’s like doing meditation, I feel so at ease and refreshed’. Jatie’s teaching draws on their knowledge of dance technique and creativity in parallel with their experience as a SEND, secondary, further and higher education teacher. They are currently Head Tutor of Contemporary and Commercial Dance at Italia Conti. Jatie trained at Central School of Ballet, Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance and London Contemporary Dance School. When not in the studio they can be found on a yoga mat, laughing with friends or on an East London dance floor.
