“The surfing version of Free Solo” Letterboxd

“The best movie about a surfer ever made” Nick Carroll, Surfline

"As hardcore and honest and mindblowing as they come." Stab

SYNOPSIS: UK Premiere: This multi award-winning documentary digs deep into the psyche of the hard charging and enigmatic Kerby Brown, who tackles terrifying slab waves of Western Australia. Combining physics-defying waveriding, stunning cinematography and intimate, candid insights, this is more than just a surfing story. Kerby’s connection with the ocean runs as deep as his love for his family. This is a human story about fear, drive, family and addiction. Or as Kelly Slater puts it, "It's a surf film, but it's more of a movie about life lessons and healing."

Following Kerby in pursuit of mutant waves in the unridden realms of the ferocious Southern Ocean, Facing Monsters explores just how far we’re willing to go and what we’re willing to put on the line while chasing dreams and attempting to out-run your demons.

It's an oft-used phrase but this multi-award winning documentary is an absolute must-see, and when Taylor Steele picks it as his film of the year, you know you don't want to miss this.
