Our Archive

Over fifty years, Riverside Studios has built up a unique archive collection, comprising posters, programmes, photographs, slides and press cuttings relating to countless productions, exhibitions and events. 

Prior to our redevelopment, this material was housed in a haphazard fashion in a store room that leaked when it rained.

In 2017, as our new building was being constructed, we applied for and were awarded £409,000 of National Lottery Heritage Funding to preserve and activate our archive collection. 

During the project, we had the entire collection cleaned and boxed, built a temperature-controlled archive store on site, hired an archivist to catalogue the material, established a team of dedicated heritage volunteers, mounted numerous exhibitions and community workshops, recorded a comprehensive oral history and produced a variety of print material to share the Riverside story.
