Baby Steps: An R&D at Riverside Sharing

Sun 15 Mar 2026 19:00

Georgina is trying to decide whether she wants children or not. The only problem is, she’s currently in labour. Twenty-something years old, spiralling, alone, Georgina travels from London to her hometown hospital with the notion of getting her no-nonsense, midwife ex-best friend from school, Molly, to deliver her baby.

Between contractions, Molly and Georgina dive head first into quarter life existential crises.

Assailed with contradicting expectations on how to be modern women, how on earth do Molly and Georgina decide what they want to do with their lives? Do they want children or not? Bombarded by voices telling them what they could and should be, how can they tell what desires are their own vs. pressures from the internet?

And what if your body just makes the choice for you?

This show has been selected as part of the R&D at Riverside Scheme - giving new, promising and exciting pieces of work the best possible start in providing a week of free rehearsal space and a sharing.
