Adult Wellbeing Through Humour Workshop

Fri 24 Apr 2026 11:00

This workshop explores the role of play, humour & creative expression as ways of building confidence & improving wellbeing. Drawing on exercises and approaches from stand up comedy, improvisation, clown, & storytelling, we’ll be exploring ways to find joy, express ourselves, be silly, and make connections, through comedy.

No experience in performance or comedy is necessary. All you need is an interest to try something new, and a willingness to explore self-expression and a be a bit silly in front of others!

Please wear comfortable clothes and footwear to move around in, and bring a notepad and pen.

This is a taster workshop for a longer series of workshops which we would like to run later in the summer. If you can’t make this but are keen to be involved in the future, or have any questions at all, contact [javascript protected email address]

The facilitator for the session will be Lawrence Dodd. He's a comedian, clown and improviser, who has taken shows to comedy festivals around UK and beyond, including Edinburgh Fringe, Brighton Fringe and Barcelona Fringe.

Lawrence is also an experienced facilitator and community organiser, and has led large scale community processes and has delivered creative workshops in different community and youth settings, drawing on play and expression as routes toward wellbeing, self-awareness and expression, confidence building and connection. Lawrence is also a mindfulness practitioner, and bring these tools and approaches into his work.
