Riverside Studios at 50: Sir Lenny Henry in Conversation
Sir Lenny Henry in Conversation with Gyles Brandreth
As part of our 50th birthday celebrations, we are delighted to welcome Sir Lenny Henry back to Riverside Studios for a very special fundraising event.
Broadcaster and author Gyles Brandreth (Just a Minute, This Morning, Celebrity Gogglebox) will interview Sir Lenny about his remarkable life and career, a conversation which will be audio recorded and released as an episode of Gyles's podcast Rosebud.
In 1988, at the height of his stand-up comedy career, Lenny Henry was performing to sold-out audiences at Riverside Studios. That was the same year he co-founded Comic Relief and raised more than £15 million pounds on the first Red Nose Day (£1.6 billion to date). Since then, his appearances on television, film, radio and stage have cemented his status as one of the UK's most versatile, popular and prolific creative figures.
Head of Programming Rhys Williamson said, “We are thrilled that Sir Lenny will be joining us and that, as one of the country’s most successful fundraisers, his appearance will provide support to Riverside at a time when our industry faces rising costs and unprecedented funding challenges”.
Every ticket you buy helps keep Riverside Studios inclusive and accessible to all, providing free and affordable space and support for emerging creatives, including via our annual Bitesize Festival, which helps develop and showcase new writing.
If you will be attending the event and would like to submit a question for Sir Lenny Henry, please email danielthurman@riversidestudios.co.uk and write SIR LENNY HENRY QUESTION in the subject line. Please note, not all questions will be selected.
