Third Age on Stage: Acting Workshops for the Over 50s

Fri 18 Sep - Fri 18 Dec 2026

Learn new acting and performance skills. Veterans and beginners are welcome!

Run by Dive In Associate, Cats Whiskers Community Arts, these weekly drama workshops include voice and speech training, movement, improvisation, character creation and work with texts. They aim to improve self-confidence and memory in a relaxed and fun environment, as well as assist participants in developing their performance skills.

Drama teacher and director Carol Allen of Cats Whiskers Community Arts has been teaching adult drama classes for over twenty years, during which time her students have taken part in live performances at venues including Kensington Palace, the Drayton Arms Theatre and the Bush Theatre. Students have also appeared in short films.  The Riverside group started in the midst of Covid in 2020, and members have written and performed several short plays with Riverscribes;  a full-length revue, "The Seven Ages of Us and an informal programme of sketches, poetry and song. Most recently, they enjoyed packed houses and enthusiastic audiences for their show “Our Borough”, recounting the vivid and often dramatic history of Hammersmith and Fulham.
