CLOWN GYM WITH CLAIRE PARRY

Time to flex your muscles and get playing in SCRUM’s weekly CLOWN GYM!

Join Claire Parry to train that clowning muscle in a regular, low-pressure, joy-filled space of connection and exploration.

We will be:

  • Finding the game
  • Cultivating play and listening
  • Getting up and improvising
  • EMBRACING FAILURE!

This is a two-hour weekly session for four weeks - we recommend you attend all four sessions if you can so that your practice can build over the full course, as well as your relationship with the ensemble. This course is for emerging and mid-career theatremakers/performers/clowns who have experience as performers and wish to freshen up or develop their craft with clowning tools. Specific clowning experience is not necessary - all you need is to be ready to get up and play!

No red noses necessary.

Claire is a Lecoq-trained critically-acclaimed clown, theatre-maker, musician, Funny Women Awards Runner Up-er and a founding member of SCRUM Theatre. She has created three solo clowning shows which she has toured across the UK including at Edinburgh Fringe and Soho Theatre. She’s also a part of Gutter Comedy’s bouffon troupe, which was recently nominated for Chortle’s Best Clowning and Alternative Comedy Award. She teaches clown at Central School of Speech and Drama and beyond. For further information about Claire and the rest of her multidisciplinary work you can visit www.claireparry.co.uk.

WHICH TICKET TIER SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Offering affordable training is at the heart of SCRUM’s charitable objectives, which is why we have different ticket price tiers. We encourage you to pay what you can based on the below descriptors:

£8 - Subsidised ticket price - You have limited expendable income** and need to opt for the lowest cost option. If this cost is still a barrier, please contact SCRUM on [javascript protected email address]

£10 - Subsidised ticket price - You have some expendable income and can meet basic needs, even if there may be occasional financial stress

£12 - Full ticket price - You have a comfortable amount of expendable income, do not face financial barriers and are able to cover the full cost of the event ticket.

*BASIC NEEDS include food, housing, clothing and transportation.

**EXPENDABLE INCOME might mean you are able to buy coffee or tea at a shop, go to the cinema or a concert, buy new clothes, books and similar items each month, etc.
