2003. As the UK government teeters on the brink of invading Iraq, two close friends find themselves on opposite sides of a political divide. As their arguments become increasingly personal, a simple question emerges: what happens when you begin to hate your best friend?

A sharp, funny and provocative two-hander about friendship, responsibility and the collision of the political and the personal, An Intervention asks what happens when the people we love the most hold views we find impossible to accept.

Want The Moon’s new production brings a Global Majority cast to Bartlett’s play, placing renewed focus on the people and communities most affected by the consequences of Western military intervention. The result is a fresh new perspective on a urgently timely play about political disagreement, friendship and the things we cannot - or will not - agree to leave at the door.

Mike Bartlett is an Olivier Award winning writer known for his recent West End hits Unicorn and Cock, and for creating the BBC drama series Doctor Foster.

Adam Karim (director) is a JMK Award Winner, Eastern Eye Best Director and 2025 The Stage Debut (Nominee).
