National Cinema Weekender 2026

On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September 2026, over 500 cinemas across the UK will come together for National Cinema Weekender, a two-day celebration of cinema and the unique joy of the big-screen experience. Following the success of National Cinema Day, the event returns in 2026 with a new name, an expanded two-day format, and a renews focus on everything that makes going to the cinema special. 

National Cinema Weekender will invite audiences across the country to come together and rediscover the joy of cinema: the big screen, immersive sound, shared reactions and the simple pleasure of experiencing a great story together. 

The weekend will also celebrate British film and the exceptional talent behind it, shining a spotlight on the actors, filmmakers and creatives whose work continues to make an impact, both at home and around the world. Find out more here.
