In the wake of a seismic political revolution and a devastating flood, a remote village in Bangladesh becomes the battleground for survival, love, and justice. Partha, the son of impoverished Jatra artists, faces the collapse of his family’s livelihood as his village grapples with the dual blows of natural disaster and political turmoil. 

This UK premiere marks the debut feature from Mohammad Touqir Islam, made in the aftermath of the devastating floods and the July Revolution of 2022 with a largely untrained cast of actors. The film is a cinematic treat with stunning images, compelling narrative and wonderful music. We are delighted to be welcoming the director to a special Q&A following the screening.

The director says of his film, ‘The story doesn’t offer clear resolutions because the country itself is in flux. Yet, it carries a message of hope: the resilience of our people, the refusal of the younger generation to compromise with injustice, and the indomitable power of love and solidarity. At its core, Delupi is a testament to human strength— the courage to confront adversity, the willingness to stand by one another, and the triumph of love over division.’
