Imitations

Tue 15 Sep - Sat 3 Oct 2026

⭐⭐⭐⭐  “A captivating and thought-provoking examination of how friends can help each other by talking through their issues, told through humour and heart.” - Everything Theatre, May 2026

⭐⭐⭐⭐ - The Reviews Hub, May 2026

Following its sold-out London debut earlier this year, this witty and emotionally resonant new comedy-drama, IMITATIONS transfers to Riverside Studios this autumn.

Set in a Manchester flat, this play follows Bea, whose day takes an unexpected turn when a surprise visit from childhood best friend Frank leads the two down the twisted path of memory lane. Old memories resurface, whilst long-buried truths begin to emerge. Think Waiting for Godot meets Scenes With Girls

Through warmth, wit and compassion, IMITATIONS celebrates the transformative power of friendship. Centred around a platonic relationship between a straight man and a queer woman - a dynamic still rarely explored on stage.

Written by and starring emerging new talent Anna Ticehurst, who critics have called “a writing talent to watch”. The production showcases a distinctive new theatrical voice, combining sharp humour with honest and intimate conversations around mental health, love and grief. Ticehurst was also the recipient of Best Performance at the 2024 Riverside Studios Bitesize Festival, making Autumn's transfer a fitting return to the venue where her work was first recognised.

Produced by Zara Clarke and Anna Ticehurst of Pinch Me Productions. Directed by Lilly Butcher, and co-starring Gregor Roach.

Following enthusiastic audience responses and a completely sold-out initial run, the production arrives at Riverside Studios for a strictly limited time, inviting audiences to experience an unforgettable new play that is as funny as it is deeply affecting.
