After a sold out Soho Theatre preview, a successful 5-star run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and a sold out run at the Camden People’s Theatre, A STAN IS BORN! is thrilled to be back in London for a residency run at Riverside Studios from 10-29 May!
Written and performed by Alexis Sakellaris, this is an original musical comedy romp about the art and power of stanning. Born in New York City as a closeted kid, Alexis is forced to follow his family to... rural Germany. Ugh. Diva down. Discovering women online is his only salvation: Céline, Whitney, Mariah, Beyonce, Aretha... you name em, he got em. They are his MOTHERS. They teach Alexis everything he knows and he becomes an EXPERT on them, setting him on the path to finding his own inner diva. With 10 original songs, sung and played live on keyboard, Alexis shares the queer joy he discovered in stanning, while also confronting the hardships (somehow being obsessed with women makes you... gay?! News to me...)
