Sindy is back at Riverside Studios after a sell out run in the Spring. Welcome to the wonderful world of glamorous dining with ex showgirl Sindy. A sparkling guest list, cocktails, canapés and music (show tunes and pop), sprinkled with showbiz gossip. It’s time to don your Kaftan and delve into the 1970s, when being a hostess really did mean the mostest. Will this dinner party be a dream come true for aspirational Sindy? Or will it turn into chaos?
Dinner! Darlings! Dinner! premiered at Brighton Festival and has played at The Tabard Theatre, Harrogate Comedy Festival and Riverside Studios. Yorkshire born Josephine (Pussies Galore, The Working Girls of Soho) developed her show with an Arts Council Lottery Grant. The show is directed by acting legend Linda Marlowe aged 84 (Decadence by Stephen Berkoff, Sylvie Carter in Eastenders).
‘A Martini quaffing, name dropping, canape pushing force of nature. Josephine Pembroke casts a delightfully deranged dinner party spell that sings, dances and boozes her audience into a riotous heap of: chuckles, guffaws and belly-laughs. A fabulous world where mirth induced madness meets Rissoles Pompadour. Make mine a large one.’ – Murray Lachlan Young (Playwright and Poet)
‘Josephine is thoroughly enjoyable to watch and has a magical charm and wit. Her writing rivals Alan Bennett, I only wish I had written this clever show’ – Anto Buckley (Musical Director of Frank’s Closet)
'One woman show, Dinner! Darlings! Dinner! is a funny, knowing take on old Hollywood (Burton, Taylor, Coward, Olivier) with terrific show-tunes (including Ladies Who Lunch and I went To A Marvellous party). And Josephine Pembroke charms as the sozzled 1970s hostess - with a wardrobe to die for' Liz Hoggard (Arts journalist, The Times & The Telegraph)
