TOP 10 SHOW - EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE 2024- Fergus Morgan, The Crush Bar
★★★★ ‘Terrifically smart and discomforting… exhilarating’ - The Scotsman
★★★★ ‘Entirely new and innovative, a distinctive voice in contemporary theatre’ - Adventures in Theatreland
F**king Legend is a show about socks and sex and loving someone even though they're quite annoying, and buying tat on holiday, and fear of death, and cognitive dissonance, and whether or not it's an issue that you're watching the world burn and all you can do is try to find meaning in the dancing of the flames, and also is it even possible to be a good man?
★★★★ ‘Strikes exactly the right tone, veering between biting humour and apocalyptic despair’- Bouquets & Brickbats
★★★★★ ‘Entertaining, confronting… I cannot help but recommend it’ - Theatre Vibe
Following a hit run at this year’s Ed Fringe, Olly brings his one-man, rollercoaster show that cuts to the core of modern masculinity to Riverside Studios.
Praise for previous work:
"Olly Hawes is a magnificent writer" - WhatsOnStage
"An only-at-the-fringe emotional rollercoaster" - The Scotsman
"Total Fangirl" - The Evening Standard
"A performer sure to find greatness" - A Younger Theatre
"Truly disgusted me" - Exeunt
Olly is a maker whose work interrogates the tension between the desires of individuals and the stability of collectives. He is co-artistic director of take stock exchange - their latest series of podcasts, Machlocket, made with the Royal Court, is available now. He’s worked with some of the country’s most prestigious and exciting venues, including the National Theatre, The Young Vic and The Barbican.
His previous shows as writer and performer include The Absolute Truth About Absolutely Everything (2018, Camden People’s Theatre and UK tour) and You, Me and the World (or: do people make love in the same way they dance (and other mysteries)) (2014, ZOO and UK tour). In a more experimental phase he made a show where he gave himself an enema on stage, but this show is much more grown up.
