Based on a true story, I Love You Michel from Nadine is a two hander that follows the life of 19-year-old jazz singer Nadine, as she falls in love with outlaw Michel Vajour.
The piece works in two time frames, the past set in Paris in the 1980s and present day, 2005, with the narrative flipping seamlessly through both time periods. Nadine sits in her kitchen of her small Parisian farm house, relaying the story of her life to Cece, a boiler engineer. Cece has been called to the house to fix Nadine's old boiler and gets absorbed in her stories of love and crime, stories that she can hardly believe are true. As Nadine begins to lower her guard, a slight mishap in detail, provokes Cece to believe that she is hiding something and is maybe in fact in the presence of someone highly dangerous.
This play delves into themes of love, truth, and relationships, blurring the boundaries between reality and fiction, leaving audiences to question whether anything that unfolded was ever truly real.
