Alex is a young aspiring actress. At a party among friends, she is assaulted—but she cannot identify the aggressor. When she turns to her brother for support, he presses her for answers she doesn’t have, driven by a furious thirst for revenge. This only provokes Alex’s distancing, living on her own the disgust, shame and guilt she feels. It is the role of Medea in a theatre production that will guide her in the channelling of her pain and fury.
Blasco’s exploration of tragedy and fury is dark and visceral as well as sophisticated. Cervantes is simply spectacular in communicating primitive emotions channelled by controlled intellectual approach.
