Set in Kinshasa, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo), the story follows Kourou, a poor musician from a small village, who moves to the big city to seek fame and fortune. The plot unfolds as Kourou tries to navigate the bustling music scene and falls in love with Kabibi, an aspiring secretary. Complications arise when Kourou's boss, a nightclub owner who is looking for a second wife, also pursues Kabibi.
