London Breeze is thrilled to have The Banjo Boys as the opening night film of its 10th Edition festival.
This is a documentary about an extraordinary journey that sees Malawian buskers on the streets of Lilongwe, Yobu Maligwa and Yosefe Kalekeni, rise to performing on over 200 global stages in eight years, including Glastonbury last summer, being interviewed by Cerys Matthews for BBC Radio 6 and getting nearly 4,000 plays a month on Spotify.
This is a film full of joy, music, and storytelling as, along with their manager, Neil Nayar, we hear of the ups and downs of touring so far from home for months on end, with their handmade instruments, including a seven-foot babatone.
Join us on the red carpet with the film’s director, Johan Nayar.
