The LS/FF NIGHT PASS for THURSDAY 7th November
EXPLORING THE OUTER EDGES
Opening LS/FF 2024, the world premiere of Salt Dir. Alice Ward is an immersion in the cold comforts of Ireland’s raging Atlantic. The awe-inspiring Creatures of Habit Dir. Nate Laverty seeks out the frigid fringes of Canada, while a wild adventure in Chile with explorer James Bodwen and charger Noah Lane, captured by award winning filmmaker Luke Pilbeam stirs the wanderlust for oft overlooked realms. Accompanied by a series of special Q+A’s!
After the break The Life and Death of Westerly Windina Dir. Alan White and Jamie Brisick, is the untold tale of one of surfing’s most enigmatic figures. Peter Drouyn was a rockstar character, driven competition surfer and innovative thinker. Combining intimate interviews and rare archival footage, the film highlights Drouyn’s seminal contributions while exploring the isolation and struggles he faced behind that swaggering public persona—and his eventual transition into Westerly Windina. Twelve years in the making this is an essential exploration of identity and unflinching query into selfhood.
