Every autumn, Runyon Grammar teams up with the neighbouring boys' school for their annual musical. This year, it’s Guys & Dolls. But when three students, Sky, Benny, and Adelaide, sneak away during rehearsal to check on their costumes, they find themselves accidentally locked in the school’s costume cupboard.
To pass the time, they play an impressions game, trying on costumes and play-acting at their dream roles and other characters. But as the game spirals out of control, the lines between performance and reality begin to blur. Secrets slip out, identities are questioned, and each of them is forced to confront truths they’d rather keep hidden.
A dark comedy with elements of physical theatre, RACKS is a love letter to youth theatre and a sharp look at the ways performance and identity overlap. Funny, heartfelt, and deeply personal, it explores the power of theatre as a space for self-discovery.
