Booze, Bibles & Bisexuals... 'Run to The Nuns' is a new, queer musical set in a fictional ‘Nunnery’.
Welcome to Cressida’s Convent, home for all. A place for you to be as you are. Rooted in feminism, revolution and comedy, this kind-of-convent is a retreat for anyone fed up with the structures of heteronormative, patriarchal, Western society. Come on a journey with us to explore what the world of non-governmental, non-patriarchal medicine could look like in the modern world. Sounds perfect? Rose-tinted lenses aside, it’s not all as glamorous as it seems; the paint is peeling and someone is always working overtime. People come here for a want of something better and the sisters - and siblings - have dedicated their lives to it. Do what you need to do to get through, but be ready for a surprise visitor at any moment. Join on us on this musical journey of harmony and mayhem - whoever arrives next could be your roommate! Give us a visit, witness a better life, and keep the men OUT!
Created by Estelle Homerstone, written by Jenette Meehan, composed by Rosa Lukacs, directed by Sophia Hail, this new piece is presented by a new company of international theatre-makers. Their practice prioritises access, inclusivity, and safety, and encourages a sense of play. After a hugely successful run at Brighton Fringe in 2023, the 'Run to the Nuns' team is thrilled to bring this joyous show to the Riverside Studios.
