WORLD PREMIERE: Surf, Eat, Repeat - Dir. Karen Song

Finisterre x LS/FF Women of the Sea Fund winning filmmaker Karen Song presents a beautiful and inspiring insight into the rich and diverse New York surf culture through the notion of shared meals, shared stories and cold waves. “the film explores diversity as it relates to surfing, especially in my beloved NY surf community,” explains Brooklyn local Karen Song. “It’s a reflection of the incredible women who are out there charging every day and our connection to nature even in this concrete jungle” Surf, Eat, Repeat sound like words to live by.

Accompanied by very special Q&A with Karen Song.

UK PREMIERE: The Rising Dawn - Dir. Nadi Saddy and Nuits Balnéaires

This beautiful and mesmerising feature documentary follows Souleymane Sidibé one of the pioneers of a new era for surfing in Côte d’Ivoire, a region where the ocean deities are venerated and feared. A talented surfer, he inspires the next generation to overcome inequalities and cultural barriers and access the transformative power of surfing. The Rising Dawn undertakes a fascinating journey that reveals unexplored waves, ethereal landscapes, and celebrates the dynamism of the communities that shape the country’s surf culture. Poetic and powerful, this is a true story of Africa, as told by the surfers who live there.

The evening is accompanied by The Shorties shortlist films – the very best short films from homegrown filmmakers.
