LONDON SPANISH FILM FESTIVAL - UK PREMIERE
Followed by a Q&A with lead actress Janet Novás and Adriana Páramo, from the Galician Film Forum (TBC)
In 1971, in the Galician countryside, María is aiding women in childbirth. After an attempt to help a young woman in trouble, she suddenly must hide from the authorities, leaving everything behind and flee to Portugal via an old smugglers’ route. Camborda, whom also wrote the script, explores in O corno female solidarity, the relationship between our body and our decisions, and women’s ability to conceive and give birth. Beautifully shot, the film won the Golden Seashell at the San Sebastián Film Festival and lead actress Janet Novás the Best New Actress Goya Award.
