In this darkly funny sequel to "Macbeth," three resilient women at Castle Dunsinane defy a brutal world of power and misogyny. Erlynn, the housekeeper; her changeling sister, Marlin; and their alcoholic sister-in-law, Portia, use cunning and strength to survive Malcolm's paranoia. One dodges arrest, another threatens her guard with dark magic, and the third endures Macduff’s ruthless interrogation.
The play also celebrates the ingenuity of Lady Macbeth’s gentlewomen, Kathryn Buchanan and Agatha Atheling, as they challenge Malcolm Canmore’s lazy, misogynistic ambition and Macduff’s vengeful obsession with his family’s killers while uncovering the mysteries of the women who provoked Macbeth’s downfall with witchcraft.
