This workshop is an in-depth dive into dialogue - a crucial element of storytelling. We will look at how you can use dialogue to express character, themes as well as subtle techniques to bury your exposition. What makes dialogue natural verses stylised, as well as how certain trends in dialogue have gone in and out of fashion over the years. All levels of experience are welcome, whether you're a writer for theatre, film, television, radio, or any other form of storytelling, we aim to help you discover and refine your own style of writing over the course of this workshop.
Nick Dawkins is a writer and dramaturg whose last play, A Manchester Anthem, won multiple awards including Pleasance Pick of the VAULT Festival, Show of the Week VAULT Festival and Broadway Baby's Bobby Award, as well as being nominated twice for an Off West End Award and having a 3 week run at Riverside Studios. He has a MA in Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and his work has been performed at Southwark Playhouse, The Space, The Vaults and The Pleasance Theatre.
