Hancock XII
Proudly presented as part of our MADE AT RIVERSIDE TV strand, celebrating the long history of film and TV production at Riverside Studios.
Here we continue our longstanding celebration of the inimitable Tony Hancock, with a further three episodes of Hancock's classic work. We start with The Succession, Son and Heir, the final episode from the classic series Hancock, his last work for the BBC in 1961. Hancock decides he needs an heir and proposes to three women but for some reason they do not seem keen. Includes a wonderful performance from the late Dame June Whitfield. We then move to 1963 and Hancock’s eponymous series from ATV. The Night Out, written by Terry Nation, sees Hancock wake up in a hotel suite after a night out, but who’s that beautiful woman sleeping in the bed? Derek Nimmo guest stars. We then finish with a favourite from Hancock’s Half Hour, The Emigrant, made here at Riverside in 1960. Hancock wants to emigrate but the Commonwealth doesn’t appear to want him. Luckily, Sid James is on hand to fix it for him.
The Tony Hancock Appreciation Society will introduce and discuss the episode afterwards as usual.
