Bhakta
A Bhakta is a devotee - one whose identity is not limited to any entity or idea, but one whose inner quality is that of unending devotion.
In her only UK performance this year, the internationally renowned Bharatnatyam dancer, Radhe Jaggi will blend together choreographies old and new, to explore the many ways devotion can manifest itself in our lives.
Through the intricate, graceful storytelling of Indian Classical dance, Radhe traces how being devoted to something, or someone, need not be quiet, or well behaved. We are free to choose the focus of our devotion - it can be disciplined or unruly, lived out in family life, in pursuit of the divine, or alone on a long journey.
Radhe Jaggi is a Bharatanatyam artiste trained at the Kalakshetra Foundation, whose movement carries the fluidity and precision of lifelong practice. She began her career in the temples of Tamil Nadu, and has since performed to over 140 million people, including at Cambridge University, the House of Commons, UNESCO Paris, the Gwangju Arts Festival in South Korea and widely across Europe and North America. She leads Project Samskriti, an initiative dedicated to reviving and sharing India's classical arts as tools for personal transformation.
In life we inhabit many roles, but devotion touches us all. In this way, we are all Bhaktas.
