Fresh from performances at EFG London Jazz Festival, jazz re:freshed and Jazz in the Round, 24-year-old Jemima Whyte is the newest alto saxophonist and vocalist making waves in the UK jazz scene, with her distinctively hard tone, dynamic improvisation and soulful vocals creating a buzz throughout London venues and beyond.
Backed by her 7-piece band, including all-female horn frontline of alto, tenor and trombone, Jemima's sound draws on contemporary jazz influences like Jordan Rakei and KOKOROKO whilst incorporating her love for old school soul sounds and intimate gospel harmonies. Jemima's debut single 'Conch' was released this Spring, showcasing her joyful and energetic writing style and arrangements, and she plans to showcase her debut compositions and unique sound at Riverside Studios this August.

Mali Sheard's Homestead
A contemporary jazz quintet formed by 20 year old saxophonist and composer Mali Sheard, playing her original music derived from both jazz and folk traditions, particularly emphasising melody and satisfying groove.
Her songs act as reflection about discovering new people and places and facing challenges along the way. Returning to the comfort of the Homestead’ to ponder her experiences and dream of the next adventures whilst warming by the fire.
Drawing influence from Brian Blade and the Fellowship, Phil Woods, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Laura Mvula in both composition and improvisation to form their unique sound.
Meeting band members Keira Chakraborty, Ky Osborne, George Balmont and Luke McCarthy through renowned Tomorrow’s Warriors and the Royal Academy Of Music, an exciting blend of alto/ soprano saxophone and flute with electric bass, piano and drums was formed. Having been together for 2.5 years the have already played successful shows at We Out Here Festival, 91 Living Room, Cheltenham Jazz Festival , Brick Lane Jazz Festival, Jazz In the Round and await the recording of the first EP later this year.
